Terrible Love (Chapter Nine)
Levi x Reader x Eren

___(name)___ saw Levi, holding Eren in a translucent liquid. Blinking, she also felt an arm underneath her numb ribs. ___(name)___ noticed that her 3D Maneuver Gear was taken away from her. Glancing up, she saw a familiar red scarf.

“Mikasa?” she whispered, still hazed.

“We’re almost there. Hold off a bit more, and we’ll treat your wounds.”

She didn’t want to see what was beneath the cloth. It made her painful―to see their faces, expressionless and pale. Dead. Corpses were mounted on the wagons, and ___(name)___ was beside them. The dead Gunter, the dead Erd, the dead Auruo, and… Petra.

Levi didn’t speak either. Neither did Eren. ___(name)___ heard about what had happened after becoming unconscious, when Eren returned to try and defeat the Female Titan, but was nearly kidnapped until Levi and Mikasa arrived.

Why did I survive? Why? Just me?

There was that noise again. The footsteps of Titans. They’re catching up.

“With these corpses, we won’t gain enough speed to escape the Titans!”

“We have to many injured soldiers to fight against them!”

Shut up. We’re not going to just…

“Haul them over.”

Dammit, Levi, I swear I’ll kill you… His cold voice spoke the orders that ___(name)___ did not want to hear. Those were the last things she wanted to hear.

“NO!”

___(name)___ screamed. The soldiers obeyed. Hesitantly, but obeyed. No, no, no… They took the bodies, wrapped in cloth, and lifted them.

“I’ll kill them! Someone, give me gear! I’ll do it! I can!”

___(name)___ struggled, and stole the 3D Maneuver Gear from an injured soldier. It was half-empty with gas, and the blades were slightly rusty, but she was determined. She started to buckle up, only to have some of her comrades stop her.

“Just please! They have families! Their physical existence is a proof of their life!”

She had gone mad now. She pushed aside her comrades and shot her grapple hooks at the nearest Titan’s shoulders and pulled herself towards it. As she reached the shoulders, she pushed her weak legs off and twisted around to cut the nape. Then the next, then the next… she killed 17 Titans before Hanji grabbed her around the waist and pulled her back…

Just in time to see a certain girl’s shining, reddish hair be blown in the wind as her body was released from the cloth that was wrapped around like a cocoon. Petra. The kind friend, the joyful, understanding, soldier that ___(name)___ admired. Now gone. Crushed beneath the feet of the Titans.

___(name)___ was mending Corporal’s sprained ankle, because he ordered her to. She didn’t want to, and she nearly refused. She hated the fact that she acted so arrogant, and it hurt her. To see his hidden, pained face beneath his stoic face. Both were so alike at heart, but ___(name)___ learned, from Eren, to express and let people know. Whether joyful or pained, she learned not to pile too much in her.

“I’m finished, Corporal. May I leave, now?”

“No. Now tell me, do you hate me?”

She was silent. She did, in a way, but she hated herself for that. But she still couldn't believe the Corporal let the soldiers haul the bodies away. It reminded her of when she saw her friends and neighbors vomited up from a Titan along with other people―limbs twisted and face frozen in the most disturbing way. They burned the mountain of people, and their existence was gone. Levi then suddenly grabbed her wrists and pulled her on the bed he was sitting on, and hovered above her, keeping a tight grasp on her wrists.

“Answer.”

“I won’t.”

She stared at Levi’s eyes. She was him, he was her. Two of them were so alike, that she sometimes forgets―if she was pained by the death of her friends, so was he. It was so simple, yet it was something that was sometimes ignored.

“Why,” ___(name)___ said, choking on the tears that flowed out of her eyes. “Why don’t you ever rely on people?”

“Why don’t you kiss my pain away? Like you did with Eren?”

“Because―”

The door slammed open, revealing an angry Eren. He must have been listening to us the whole time.

"Corporal, get away from her."

"Shithead, knock on the door."

"I said," Eren grabbed Levi by the collar of his shirt. "Get. Away."

The brunette helped ___(name)___ back on her feet, and twirled her wrapped his arm around her waist, claiming her his.

"You're only hurting her, Levi."

Levi's eyes narrowed, and boisterously walked across the room and took Eren by the collar of his shirt. Despite the great height difference, Levi's strong arms firmly held on, and it was intimidating enough to make ___(name)___ frightened. Eren didn't back away, and balled his fists.

"Right back at you, asshole."

"Stop, please! This isn't what I wanted..."

Levi clenched his jaws and jabbed his knees into Eren’s stomach, and Eren flew back a few feet back and skidded on his feet. Before ___(name)___ could stop the fight, Levi headed towards Eren to strike again, only to be grabbed by Eren by the collar and kicked in the stomach, flung into the air. Levi landed on his back, and Eren was regaining stance. Shocked by the violent fight, ___(name)___ wasn’t quick enough to react, and couldn’t jump in. Levi stood up and punched Eren in the jaw making him slam down on the ground. Now you could save him, and embrace him in your arms…
